History:


1968

Incorporation of de La Fontaine in Sherbrooke, Canada, by Gerald de La Fontaine, the founder of the company.

1973

The company moves into the present building, which was close to 12,000 square feet at the time. After several expansions, the building is now more than 50,000 square feet.

1982

Robert de La Fontaine B.A.A., today's President of the company, succeeds his father, which brings the second generation of the family into the company.

1986

The company opens a warehouse in the area of Hartford, Connecticut. It represents the first milestone in a large expansion into the North eastern United States.

1988

Richard de La Fontaine, Chartered Accountant (CA), joins the family company as the new Controller.

1995

Incorporation of de La Fontaine Industries in Delaware, USA. The mission of the company is to deliver large projects in the North eastern United States and establish a sales office in the Mid-Atlantic area.

1995

Incorporation of de La Fontaine Warehouse in Massachusetts, USA. The mission of the company is to warehouse hollow metal doors and frames for distributors in the New England area.

1998

France de La Fontaine B.A.A., joins the company as the new Controller. Richard becomes the Sales Manager.  

1999

Anie de La Fontaine B.SC., joins the other members of the family as the Human Resources Manager of the company.

2000

The company is now well established in the North eastern United States. More than 100 people work with the de La Fontaine family.

2004

Anie is now involved with distributors and the development of technical documentation. Richard is now serving the architectural community and acts as a consultant.

2005

We are member of the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) and we offer seminars to Architects as a registered provider of continuing education with AIA.

2007

We have increased our facility by about 8,000 square feet to accommodate a pre-finished painting line. We continue to develop new products which we bring to the market in 2008.

2009

We offer innovative pre-finished products with flexible designs. Our custom embossed doors, our doors with inlays or with recessed panels combine performance, esthetic and comply with fire-rated standards.  Furthermore, we offer a new prefinished split frame. Face welded and available in different configurations this product provides endless benefits.
